    Dundee City Disability Sport (DCDS) is a voluntary sport group where the main aim is to lead in the development of sport for people with physical, sensory or learning disabilities in partnership with key local agencies. DCDS is a member branch of Scottish Disability Sport (SDS) who are the governing body of sport for athletes and players with a physical, sensory or learning disability. DCDS have achieved SDS Minimum Operating Requirements (MOR) which ensures all governance is up to date and appropriate. The committee of DCDS now wishes to appoint new committee members to join the branch.


    Role Title – Committee Member (voluntary)

    Organisation – Dundee City Disability Sport (DCDS)

    Responsible to – Dundee City Disability Sport committee

    Location – Dundee City

    Contract – This is a voluntary position but any exceptional expenses will be paid. Committee members will be expected to attend branch meetings (held 6-8 times per year), support the branch to maintain SDS Minimum Operating Requirements and support the chairperson in driving the branch forward. The Level of time commitment is flexible and will be tailored to suit the applicant’s current commitments and the needs of the branch.

    • Prepared to make   decisions when necessary
    • Passionate about   disability sport



    1. Responsibility for attending committee management meetings and reporting back to appropriate members with matters arising from meeting (if required).
    2. When unable to attend meetings, send apologies along with a short report to the Secretary for the minutes.
    3. Complete trustee’s declaration.
    4. Be completely familiar with DCDS constitution, clubs/organisation committee procedures and the DCDS rules and regulations.
    5. Vote on DCDS matters when asked to and attend EGM and AGM meetings.
    6. To support DCDS to ensure SDS Minimum Operating Standards are kept up to date and complete.
    7. To be part of sub groups of the committee when required (ie funding and events calendar subgroups).
    8. Support the chairperson in the work of DCDS.

  • Autism Friendly Swimming

    Leisure and Culture Dundee

    Sundays 10-11am

    Our sessions are supported by staff with the knowledge and strategies to enable them to support customers with the condition that sometimes isolates them and can restrict participation in activities.  We have made some simple changes to enable those families dealing with Autism and other conditions effected by sensitivity to noise and busy areas the opportunity to experience the fun and thrills on offer.  We have Fast Track entry and our website, http://www.leisureandculturedundee.com/autism-friendly-swimming, offers some excellent Story Board resources as well as information on times, prices and programmed sessions.

  • Wheelchair Extravaganza 2016

    With the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro fast approaching, it is anticipated that Scotland will have a large number of athletes competing as part of the Great Britain team.  Para Sport has a much higher profile than ever before thanks to the London 2012 Paralympic Games and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.  This event will build on this legacy to ensure that people are aware of the opportunities across the country.

    The Wheelchair Sports Extravaganza has been introduced in 2016 in partnership with Wheelchair Sports Clubs, Stirling University and other national sporting governing bodies in Scotland. 

    The event is designed to allow people to experience a wide range of Wheelchair Sports delivered by some of the best clubs and coaches available in Scotland. We have selected activities where we have strong club links so participants can continue to enjoy and develop within the sports for many years to come. 

    The Wheelchair Sports Extravaganza is about providing a range of opportunities for people who use a wheelchair for sport to try new and exciting sports and learn more about the pathways that are available throughout the country.  Furthermore, the event will highlight the opportunities for people with disabilities to achieve at the highest level and hopefully inspire them to become our stars of the future.

    A selection of sports wh eelchairs will be availabl e for use at the event. 

    This event is free and is being supported by Awards for All.
